Supporting the next generation
Scholarships and student scientific life.

Training the people who will search after us
Funding a project gives a result in five years. Funding a student gives an entire career. That is why training the next generation is part of the Institute's mission rather than of its good intentions.
Each year, several thousand dollars are awarded in study, excellence and advanced training scholarships to students and research professionals.
It is the counterpart of Bringing the minds home: bringing researchers back only makes sense if Quebec trains their successors.

The Institute's scholarships
Nine scholarships carry the name of a donor or a researcher. To learn the eligibility criteria for any of them, write to us: they are not published on this site.
The scientific day
A full day given over to students, researchers and trainees, who present their work in lectures and on interactive screens, before peers who assess them.
The event is organised by the students themselves. It is a professional exercise as much as a showcase, and the best place to gauge the real state of the next generation.
You see there what no annual report shows: unfinished work, results being argued over, and students learning to defend a thesis in front of people more experienced than they are.

A question about a scholarship or the scientific day?
The team answers students and established researchers alike.
