Who we are

A foundation funding cancer research since 1947.

Who we are

Mission and vision

Giving researchers the means to defeat cancer

The Institute provides financial support for research excellence in the Cancer axis of the Research Centre of the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal. In practice, that takes four forms.

  • Supporting research projects
  • Contributing to the purchase of state of the art equipment
  • Awarding student scholarships
  • Organising and funding scientific conferences and training workshops
Giving researchers the means to defeat cancer

What we do not do

The Institute treats no one, houses no one and supports no patient directly. If you are looking for help for yourself or someone close to you, these organisations exist for exactly that, and they do it well.

Five values that decide

Commitment

Holding the line over years, not for the length of a campaign.

Collaboration

Making the laboratory and the clinic work together.

Integrity

Saying what the money funds, and what it does not.

Excellence

Funding peer reviewed work, not the most visible work.

Entrepreneurship

Taking a chance on an early project when no one else will.

Where we are anchored

The Institute works inside an established hospital and university ecosystem, which keeps it from funding into a void and gives it access to teams that have already been assessed.
